Description
This is my illustration in a style of Drawing more fantasy, influenced in mangas.- The drawing of the personage " I used reference only for the pose ", the face of model is not equal, I changed the eyes the nose, only conserved the pespectiva of the face.
- The Background did not have no referencia, only imagination. ( But it could have been better )
realism and of the correct scales, only something beautiful !!
* Drawn and painted totally by hand! ( No computer effect. )
* Pencil colors and acrylic ink !
* Artwork Size: 70cm x 50cm. ( A2 )

Its not terrible, but some of those parts are a bit distracting. Good job on this version though.

Isn't that the outfit from Bruce Lee's Game of Death, also used in homage to him in Kill Bill Vol 1??
It's refreshing to see works in traditional mediums...

But what you really might want to work on here is composition. The figure is "crowding" the left side, and her pose makes that even more pronounced - as if you'd run out of paper.
And, of course, you've used a commercial photograph again - and never provided the original reference. Which is both against the GFXartist rules and rather lame on artistic merit.

I've never been impressed by someone who claims "I didn't use reference...", because it usually looks like it.
But besides that, and my little rant aside, obviously you did use the model's face in the photo as reference while making a few adjustments of your own (eyes, nose, little in the mouth and hair), but to say you didn't - well, dude, you just open yourself up for attack.
There's no shame in using photo reference, especially if you do representational art... let the critics whimper (they always will) you concentrate on what you want to do and keep improving.
As for this piece, I think the style of the girl and the rest are too different and causes too much disharmony (kind of like paintng part from reference and the other part made up, because that's exactly what it looks like!)
But, I really like the nostalgic "pulp sci-fi" colors and feel of this. Great fun!

Bummer. I hate tracer-over's as much as paint-overs.
12/28/04 @012
12/28/04 @039
the girl doesnt look like but the bg.. yes.
anyway it's a great work from you~

The face has some of the characteristics from Pampita.
The outfit doesn't look like an outfit, more like a bodypainting(I find it hard to believe that an outfit would fit so perfectly that it would go in under the breasts and then out again...), Also the fact that the zipper "dissapears" between her breasts annoys me even more..
Background: Might aswell have skipped it or put some more effort into it.
And last but not least: Skip the Luis Royo style and find some other style that fits you like a glove(preferrably just fool around until you've found your own, seems to work best for most ppl, but it may take years to find your way there tho...)

R:
* I did not speak that I did not use reference for model!
I spoke that I used it only for pose, as they can see the face,
is not the same of the model!
The model is not equal I changed the eyes the nose, only conserved
the pespectiva of the face!
* All the artists who draw in the GFX use photo as reference of some species!!
My search in this work was in making something out of the
realism and of the correct scales, only something beautiful !!
Thank you for link of the reference;
* ONE QUESTION: Why they ask for reference only for me, and other artists not?
12/28/04 @287
Muy buen trabajo amigo, no le des bola a los que piensan saberlo todo. Eres genial!
12/28/04 @291
That's why I always say that. "You have the right to critique the technique, but not the vision."
Sigue fuerte amigo, no dejes que te den bajones ni golpes bajos por sólo envidia. Sigue con tu trabajo, vas muy pero muy bien.

12/28/04 @332
12/28/04 @397
Amigo, speak for yourself, not for everyone else, OK?
Besides, using reference is one, copying is another, and lying about not doing it is yet a third thing. The rules say you must link to the photo you used. And I want to see the photo you used, to find out how much of the picture is due to the photo and how much is your own.
(You are not the only one I asked, don't worry.)
12/28/04 @443
I am impressed nevertheless!
9/10!

12/28/04 @479
Well done, it looks realistic but with a painting style, Bood Drawing.
WELL DONE
12/28/04 @677
But, as arenhaus said using reference is one thing and straight copying is another. With the acception of bigger eyes the face is the same as the referenced photo, and the pose is EXACT (down to the ribs in the ribcage).
No offence, but this is what i see, and I think there is nothing wrong with using reference.
12/28/04 @700
I want it on my wall!
If I were a Tekken fighter I'd be her
12/28/04 @943
I love the face, but after seeing the reference photo, it's almost identical.
Try to be more original and don't lie to yourself. What you say ("The model is not equal I hanged the eyes the nose, only conserved the pespectiva of the face!"
12/28/04 @944

AMIGO? Do I denote a racial slur in you using that word?
Arteyestilo may be out of line in assuming that we all use photo references but that gives no one the right to call him a liar.
Give the guy a break, he expressed himself incorrectly in his description.
12/29/04 @234
If you're seriously trying to explore the fantasy art field, be careful with copying such recogniseable imagery. This could get you in trouble were it ever published. Nothing wrong with the big-titted fantasy chick genre (sort of) but get better with drawing out of your head so you look a little more professional as you enter into it. Don't assume that just because YOU can't conjure this kind of image without reference, other artists can't either. That would be a mistake
And Amigo means friend! Somos todos amigos aquí! Yay!

Amen Sistah friend!
I appologies if what I said sounded harsh to you Artyestilo. You do have a very nice drawing technique, and your dipiction of the girl is nice. You just need to be more careful to reference what you use so that you dont get into trouble.
The picture you used is very well known and you should give it more credit in your description of the art.
12/29/04 @687
A little crit: somehow the composition looks a bit disharmonic to me (having a bit more room to the right might have been nice) and the background makes everything seem a bit tight. Maybe that's because the colors of the bg are almost of the same value as the foreground.
Anyway, cool work =)
@Fealasy: Uh, that was sarcasm, wasn't it? ^^;
12/29/04 @848
The photo wasn't reproduced, so I'm not going to get into that. However I need you to post links to the reference material. Don't forget again.

I just read all the comments here
I don't always hit the elite posts just every now and then .......but I came back to this one to see how it was going....and is this how all elites are treated???
If so this is a big time bummer! Cause right now elite means to me you have to be absolutely perfect every time you post
ARTYESTILO I guess if you did use a photo as reference just post the link this way people wont come down hard on you
to me honestly it doesn't bother me I judge by the quality of work .......soooo......
Fealasy I don't think that picture you posted and his are even close
http://pantransit.reptiles.org/images/2003-01-12/MagnaCarta05.jpg
the one you posted looks like he has barrels on his head
ARTYESTILO picture looks like a bow in the back of her head....
I think if anyone caught on it was oguzman who posted this link...
http://img156.exs.cx/img156/8796/pampita0120yk.jpg
now those pics look similar but if you look at ARTYESTILO picture I think you can see it wasn't a trace over.....
but then again I am not that experienced to tell the difference
Runs off very confused
that's all I have to say............
12/30/04 @295
wish i were her with great eyes and lips and amazing hair!!!...
GREAT JOB! +9

Come on people, let's keep this site the nicer one. All people here are involved in some kind of 'art' and like to create stuff. People spend a lot of time creating their artwork and just want to share with the rest. And we all know you throw something of yourself in the artwork. Maybe it's a good idea to be somewhat easier on people, right? It's always easy to say something bad about artwork. Just give some constructive critique, please.
12/30/04 @494
12/30/04 @522
Yeah, right.
Besides, anyone has a right to experiment and fail, "elite" or not. Everyone must answer for their actions, "elite" or not.
That said, you won't find skill-less "elite" artists here. They all know their way with the medium, even though not all are "perfect".
12/30/04 @543
To me, this piece however, is dangerously close not not being original at all ... at least not the face and body. The backgound is marvelous and I will assume it to be wholly original.
I'm no artist, I take pictures. I copy nature without having to reference the photos I take other than to thank my God that he has given me such beautiful creatures to photograph.
I just hope that we can go on from this, put it in the past, and learn from our errors.
